The Numbers Behind the Deal
PSG are said to be valuing the package at up to €150 million once add-ons are included, with roughly €20 million tied to league performance and another €20 million linked to Champions League success. That is a serious fee even by the standards of the modern game, and it tells you PSG have no intention of letting a player of Barcola’s calibre leave cheaply, even with two years left on his deal.

We like this one. Replacing Salah’s output was never going to happen through a single signing or a bargain deal, and going after a proven Ligue 1 and Champions League performer like Barcola shows Liverpool understand the scale of what they are trying to replace. Yes, the fee is enormous, but if Iraola sees him as a genuine focal point of the new look attack, the price starts to make more sense the longer you think about it.
There is still plenty that could go wrong here. PSG do not have to sell, and a fee close to €150 million is the kind of number that can stall a deal as easily as complete one. But talks having actually taken place, rather than this being another name thrown into the transfer mill, is the most encouraging part. After a difficult 2025-26 campaign and a change in the dugout, fans want to see ambition, and chasing a player of Barcola’s level while still hunting for defensive reinforcements is exactly that.
