Why Liverpool’s keeper is a useful absentee from Brazil’s November trip
Carlo Ancelotti is not interested in sentiment right now, and his latest Brazil squad for the November friendlies against Japan and Singapore makes that obvious. It is short on established certainties, heavy on fresh faces, and built with an eye firmly on the 2027 World Cup cycle rather than anything immediate.

A squad built for evaluation, not comfort
Brazil face Japan in Singapore on November 14 before meeting the hosts themselves three days later. Neither fixture carries the usual weight of a Brazil get-together. After an underwhelming 2026 World Cup, these games are about testing depth and working out who genuinely fits the next version of the national team, not chasing prestige friendlies.
Nine of the called-up players are of Olympic age, and fifteen are under 23. That is not an accident. Ancelotti has been explicit that the period leading into 2027 is for finding direction, with a more settled group expected to emerge once qualifiers and the Copa America approach.
Why Alisson’s absence suits everyone
Alisson Becker is missing again, though this has nothing to do with his standing. Ancelotti has instead picked Bento, Lucas Perri and Pedro Morisco as his three goalkeepers for the window, using the opportunity to assess competition for the jersey rather than revisit a position he already feels settled on. He has made clear Alisson remains Brazil’s established number one and will be recalled once the Copa America comes into view.
For Liverpool, that is a welcome byproduct. Alisson avoids a long round trip to Southeast Asia during the international break and can instead use the time to rest and train at Anfield, something Iraola will value given how packed the winter schedule is about to become.
Youth at the front of the queue
The wider squad leans heavily toward the next generation, with Endrick, Vinicius Junior, Estevao, Rayan and Andrey Santos all involved alongside senior figures such as Raphinha, Gabriel Magalhaes and Bruno Guimaraes. It is a group assembled for information rather than guarantees, and Ancelotti seems entirely comfortable with that trade off. The rebuild is happening now, in public, and the priorities could not be stated more plainly.
